The Red String Series
a chance bit of debris on the breeze...
strand of warmth for a nest...
...tether for the
soul?
One morning I woke up with an image of a red string floating through
one of the bamboo paintings. I immediately began incorporating that image
into many of the works. Since then, people have told me what the
red string symbolizes to them. Please let me know what you think.

I began this extensive series to push the limits of my ability to blend color on the brush while working in large scale bamboo. Each culm (stalk) of bamboo was painted with a single stroke; wider culms were painted with a brush in each hand.
